A universal joint is also known as universal coupling, U joint, Cardan joint, Hardy-Spicer joint or Hooke's joint. This joint fixes all three translational degrees of movement and 1 rotational degree of movement. It allows rotations about the constraint anchor x-axis and the constraint anchor y-axis.
